The National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) is a voluntary, not for profit organisation. It is the primary service provider to the vision impaired population of over 6,500 in the Republic of Ireland.

NCBI's mission statement is:

'To optimise the intellectual, social and economic independence of vision impaired persons and to minimise the handicapping effects of visual impairment'.

Services delivered by NCBI on both a centre based and domiciliary level include :

NCBI has vast experience working on various EU funded projects, including ESF main claim, EU fund for Peace and Reconciliation in Ireland, Helios I and II, ExLib, Employment Initiative -Horizon, Leonardo. Telematics for Libraries, TEMPUS, TIDE, IST and Socrates.
